Lector
The lectern rotation schedule is located under the Volunteers section of www.peace-lutheran-springhill.org.
Please check the schedule and if you have a conflict on your scheduled day it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
You will find the lessons for each Sunday on the website under the Worship section. You may copy and paste the lessons and read from a hard copy at the lectern or you may read the lessons from the screen. It is important to stand directly behind the lectern. If you cannot read the text from the screen behind the lectern please print the lessons and read from the hard copy.
It is imperative you read the lessons before Sunday. Become familiar with the text and if you cannot pronounce any of the words ask Pastor to help with the pronunciation or you may go to www.BibleGateway.com. There are multiple versions of the Bible and there are several audio translations you can listen to and obtain the proper translations. Practice reading the lessons before reading on Sunday. Be sure to read slowly and with expression. Don’t be upset if you mess up – pat yourself on the back for volunteering to read.
When you advance to the altar you want to reverence the altar by bowing and then go to the lectern.

-
At the altar, hand the bread to the communion assistant, then the flagon of wine.
-
During regular Sundays it is probably not necessary to direct the flow of communicants during the distribution of Communion. However, always watch in case your assistance is needed. During festival Sundays you may need to help with directing communicants to the altar.
